Imagine yourself as the head of an influential Roman dynasty at the height of the Empire. Your goal? Turn your family into an economic powerhouse by spreading colonists across the Mediterranean and building trade networks that would make any senator jealous. But don't worry, the battle here isn't fought with swords, but with wit. Concordia is an elegant and 'peaceful' strategy game where direct conflict is cast aside in favor of sharp logistical planning.
The heart of the game lies in hand management. You play cards to perform actions—such as moving colonists or producing resources—and once used, those cards are gone. To get them back, you must use a specific retrieval action. This cycle dictates the pace of the match: you must plan now what you'll want to do three turns from now, balancing territorial expansion with the acquisition of new cards that make your actions more potent.
In this Special Edition, Mac Gerdts' masterpiece gets a complete makeover. Forget the old look; we now have an immersive visual design, historically grounded and with a map that is much easier to read, eliminating visual clutter during gameplay. Additionally, the edition features premium components that give it a luxury feel on the table. For those already familiar with the system, the Special Edition expands the experience with a brand-new map and two gameplay modules that add new layers of strategy. An important warning for collectors: this version is not backwards compatible with content from previous editions. In other words, it's a fresh start for your Roman dynasty!

Is the game too complex for beginners?
Not at all! Despite being an 'expert' game, the rules are very clean and intuitive. Once you grasp the logic of playing a card and retrieving it later, you're halfway there.
How long does a game last?
It usually takes around 100 minutes. It's a well-balanced timeframe for the strategic depth the game provides.
Can I use my old Concordia expansions with this edition?
Unfortunately, no. The Special Edition is not backwards compatible, so you'll need content specific to this version.
Does the game work well with 1 player?
Yes, the game supports 1 to 5 players, allowing you to test your strategies even in solo mode.
Is there a language barrier?
There is moderate language dependency due to the cards. If you aren't fluent in English, you'll need translated cards or a reference sheet.
