About the game

What you do in a play session

Sharpen your axe, because things are about to heat up on the Swedish island of Öland! In Eketorp, you aren't just an explorer; you are a Viking leader in a frantic race to erect the most imposing stronghold in the region. The goal is straightforward but the execution is pure adrenaline: you need to collect valuable blocks to build your fortress, and there are two main ways to go about it. You can play it straight by focusing on resource spaces, or you can opt for the raiding path, attempting to steal blocks directly from your rivals.

The real fun (and the biggest source of tension) lies in the planning. The game utilizes a simultaneous and secret action mechanic. This means that while you are trying to devise your master plan, your opponents are doing exactly the same, without knowing your next move. You position your units and plan your movements secretly, creating a constant cat-and-mouse game. When the moves are revealed, chaos ensues: Vikings clash in epic battles to decide who gets the loot and who ends up in the field hospital to recover from a beating.

The game can end in two ways: either time runs out after a set number of rounds, or a player is so efficient that they manage to complete their fortress before anyone else. It is a game of hand management and strategic positioning where bluffing is your best friend. If you enjoy games that blend careful planning with the risk of being blindsided by an unexpected attack, Eketorp will keep you hooked from start to finish. It is fast, dynamic, and perfect for those who want to taste Viking conquest without needing a thousand-page manual.
