Get ready for an epic adventure in the land of a Thousand and One Nights! In Five Tribes: The Djinns of Naqala, you are a traveler arriving at the legendary Sultanate of Naqala, a place where the old sultan has just passed on, leaving the throne vacant and the city at the mercy of whoever can gain the most influence. Prophecy states that outsiders will manipulate the Five Tribes to control this mystical city-state. Are you one of them?
Designed by the master Bruno Cathala, Five Tribes takes the classic idea of German-style games with wooden meeples and gives it a brilliant twist. Forget traditional worker placement; here, the meeples are already on the board, scattered across villages, markets, oases, and sacred sites. Your challenge is to strategically move these Tribes – Assassins, Elders, Builders, Merchants, and Viziers – activating their special powers and collecting victory points. Every move is crucial: how, when, and where you displace these meeples will determine your success or failure.
The rules are quite straightforward, typical of a Days of Wonder game, making it easy to get into. But make no mistake: to master Five Tribes, you'll need a sharp mind and careful planning. You must think ahead, anticipate your opponents' moves, and find the best paths to victory, whether by invoking powerful Djinns to aid you or by accumulating wealth and influence. With a modular board that ensures high replayability, each game is a new strategic dance in the desert of Naqala. Are you ready to claim the Sultanate?
