About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready to relive the intensity of the latter half of the Thirty Years' War with Sweden Fights On, a tactical wargame that puts you in command of Swedish forces across four crucial battles. This is the second volume in the acclaimed Musket & Pike Battle Series, delving deep into the rise and fall of Swedish military fortunes after the loss of their legendary king, Gustav II Adolf, in 1632. The game elevates the series experience, introducing new features like limbered guns, double-sized batteries, and organic regimental artillery, expanding tactical possibilities on the field. The heart of the system lies in command and control: your armies are divided into wings, each with specific orders dictating the allowed actions for its units. Victory will smile upon the commander who can masterfully coordinate these wings in the heat of battle, transforming chaos into a symphony of strategy. Units represent infantry brigades, cavalry regiments, and artillery batteries. Rules cover everything from cavalry charges and the use of pistols for skirmishing or close combat, to artillery grazing fire and infantry firing techniques, including advancing, retreating, and salvo firing. Interaction is constant and intense, allowing a battle to be completed in a single sitting. The four included battles are Nördlingen (1634), Wittstock (1636), 2nd Breitenfeld (1642), and Jankau (1645), each offering a rich historical scenario and unique tactical challenges. Components include 772 full-color die-cut counters, two 22"x34" full-color back-printed mapsheets, one 10-sided die, a 24-page Series Rulebook, a 40-page Playbook (including Lion of the North conversion rules), and one 11x17 Player Aid card.
