About the game
What you do in a play session
Gustav Adolf the Great: With God and Victorious Arms is the fourth installment in Ben Hull's acclaimed Musket & Pike Battle series, transporting us to the heart of King Gustav II Adolf of Sweden's military campaigns. This tactical wargame focuses on five crucial battles that defined the military rise of the 'Lion of the North,' one of history's greatest strategists. Players will relive epic clashes where Swedish tactics faced formidable Polish cavalry, winged hussars, and Cossacks, as well as the Catholic League and Imperial armies led by Tilly and Wallenstein. The game simulates the coordination of different army wings, each with its commander and specific orders, requiring players to demonstrate their skill in synchronizing actions in the heat of battle. Units represent infantry battalions, cavalry regiments, and artillery batteries, with rules detailing cavalry charges, pistol skirmishing, and artillery grazing fire. With a high level of interactivity, most scenarios can be completed in a single sitting, offering an immersive experience in the battles of Dirschau (1627), Breitenfeld (1631), Alte Veste (1632), Lützen (1632), and Honigfelde/Trzciano (1629). It's a true military history lesson in game form!
