About the game

What you do in a play session

In Takenokolor, you step into the shoes of a gardener dedicated to transforming your small plot of land into a vibrant paradise. The goal is to cultivate a lush bamboo grove, create refreshing watering holes, and attract local wildlife, such as fish and ladybugs, to bring life and color to your garden. Each round, one player rolls four colored pencils (green, yellow, pink, and blue) and chooses one. The other players then pick one of the remaining pencils. Everyone simultaneously marks on their sheet of paper a bamboo section that matches the color and symbol (circle, square, or triangle) of their chosen pencil. It's a race to see who can complete their bamboo grove first and who proves to be the most skilled gardener. With simple rules and quick games, Takenokolor is a perfect game to relax and exercise your mind, ideal for families and casual players seeking a visually appealing and lightly strategic experience. The variable setup ensures each game is a new challenge, while the dice rolling and sheet-filling (roll-and-write) mechanic makes it accessible and fun for everyone. Get your pencils ready and let creativity bloom in this charming gardening game!
