About the game

What you do in a play session

Grab your pirate hat and stock up on rum: in Caribbean, you'll battle for control of the 18th-century Caribbean seas. The board depicts the region divided into spaces, with six pirate ships roaming free—and none are loyal to you. Your goal? Bribe these bloodthirsty captains with barrels of rum (the local currency) to plunder treasures and deliver them to *your* safe havens, not your rivals'. Each round is an action auction: the highest rum bidder commands the ships, moving them to loot cargo from ports or other ships, swap treasures, or make strategic deliveries. But beware: everyone acts simultaneously, so betrayal (and bluffing) is always lurking. In the end, whoever hoards the most doubloons wins—and the title of Pirate King (at least until the next game).

Quick answers before you buy

6 questions
Best player count?
3 or 4 players for maximum negotiation chaos. With 2, it's more strategic but less pirate-y.
Kid-friendly?
Ages 10+ if they enjoy bluffing. Theme is family-friendly, but the bribery is serious business!
Language-dependent?
Nope! Totally language-independent. Even mute pirates can play.
How long does a game take?
About 30 minutes—perfect for a quick adventure between heavier games.
Is it complex?
Lightweight (1.7/5 on BGG). Simple rules, but depth comes from negotiations.
Are expansions needed?
Base game is complete, but if you crave more piracy, check out 'Pirate's Cove' (a different game).
