Hey everyone! Ready to dive into the intrigues of Waterdeep, the City of Splendors? In 'Lords of Waterdeep', you take on the role of one of the Masked Lords, the true rulers behind the scenes of this jewel of the Forgotten Realms. The game, which plays 2 to 5 players and takes 60 to 120 minutes, is a strategic worker placement where the goal is simple: dominate the city and accumulate more victory points than your rivals.
How does it work? You'll send your agents to recruit adventurers – fighters, wizards, clerics, and rogues – and send them on quests. Each completed quest earns rewards and increases your influence. But that's not all! You can expand Waterdeep by constructing new buildings, which not only open up new actions for everyone but also give you extra cash when other players use them. And, of course, there are the Intrigue cards: use them to give your plans a boost or to hinder your opponents, because in Waterdeep, anything goes to reach the top.
Over eight rounds, with each completed quest, constructed building, or successful intrigue, you accumulate points. In the end, whoever has the highest score is the true Lord of Waterdeep. It's a game with a medium complexity (2.45/5 on BGG), perfect for those who enjoy a good strategic challenge without it being overly complicated. Get ready for lots of negotiation, planning, and, of course, some good old-fashioned backstabbing!
