About the game
Get ready for an epic adventure in the world of Varisia! In Pathfinder Adventure Card Game: Rise of the Runelords – Base Set, an ancient evil is stirring, with dark magic echoing in crumbling ruins, giants gathering armies, and cultists plotting nefarious schemes. Your mission, as part of a group of 1 to 4 heroes, is to combat this threat plaguing the region. This cooperative and strategic card game plunges you into the award-winning 'Rise of the Runelords' adventure path from the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, facing traps, monsters, and powerful foes.

You choose a fantasy character, such as a cunning rogue or a powerful wizard, each with unique abilities represented by the cards in their deck. Classic RPG attributes like Strength and Dexterity are determined by dice of various sizes, adding a touch of luck and excitement to each check. Throughout the campaign, you'll be able to acquire new allies, spells, weapons, and items to strengthen your deck. The objective is clear: locate and defeat the main villain before time runs out, overcoming the challenges and enemies they guard in their own deck.

The cool part is that your characters evolve with each game, gaining unique gear, incredible magic, and formidable powers, all essential for facing increasingly greater threats. The Base Set already comes with nearly 500 cards, and it's an expandable game. If you want more players, there's a Character Add-On Deck that allows up to 6 players and offers more character options. Plus, the adventure continues with additional adventure decks released periodically. An important errata for early printings: the Loot card 'Sihedron Medallion' should have been marked '1' (from Burnt Offerings) instead of 'B' (from Base Set). Keep an eye out!
