About the game
What you do in a play session
Sammu‑ramat drops you and your friends into the heart of the Assyrian Empire between 811 BC and 808 BC, a period when the queen‑regent faced political turmoil, invasions, and natural disasters. Each player becomes a royal advisor, each with a unique ability ranging from military tactics to resource management and religious rites. The board depicts the empire's main regions, linked by point‑to‑point routes for movement. During the game you spend actions to play action cards, travel between regions, and balance four critical tracks: Military, Supplies, Health, and Religion. Combat is deterministic – an enemy unit is removed 1 : 1 for each of your units placed, shifting the emphasis to preparation and resource allocation.
The game starts by drawing an Empire Scenario card. Every scenario sets its own victory conditions, such as quelling an internal revolt, repelling an invading army, or surviving a drought. Variable set‑up ensures high replayability. All players win or lose together, reinforcing cooperation and group decision‑making. Designed for 1‑5 players, Sammu‑ramat runs about 60 minutes, perfect for a game night. Components include stand‑up miniatures for advisors and troops, action cards, scenario cards, and resource markers. While the text is in English, the mechanics are straightforward; however, the many scenarios may require translation for non‑English speakers. Overall, Sammu‑ramat delivers a historic cooperative experience where strategy, planning, and teamwork keep the empire standing.
