In Dominion, you step into the shoes of an ambitious monarch, ruling a small kingdom brimming with potential. Unlike your predecessors, you're not content with the status quo and dream of expanding your territories, transforming them into a vast and prosperous empire. As it turns out, other monarchs have had the exact same idea, and now it's a race to see who can annex the most land and consolidate their power. To achieve this, you'll need to hire minions, construct buildings, spruce up your castle, and fill your treasury coffers. Your parents might not approve, but your maternal grandparents would certainly be delighted by your audacity! At the heart of Dominion lies the deck-building mechanic. Each player starts with an identical, modest deck of cards. In the center of the table, there's a selection of kingdom cards that can be acquired with the resources generated during the game. By carefully choosing which cards to buy and how to utilize them in your hands, players dynamically construct their decks, seeking the most efficient path to accumulate victory points before the game ends. While not a Collectible Card Game (CCG), the experience of building and playing your deck is reminiscent of that dynamic. The base game comes with 500 cards, and in each game, you select 10 of the 25 available kingdom card types to include, ensuring immense replayability and a strategic variety that keeps every game fresh and challenging.
