Dominion is an empire-building game where each player starts with a small, identical deck of basic cards. The objective is to expand your kingdom by acquiring lands, constructing buildings, and accumulating treasures. In the center of the table, there's a selection of cards that players can purchase with the gold they generate during gameplay. What makes Dominion unique is its deck-building mechanic - you don't start with a powerful deck, but rather with simple cards that allow you to acquire better ones. This constant progression creates a satisfying and strategic experience, as each decision about which cards to purchase shapes your playstyle. With 500 cards total and the ability to select 10 out of 25 available card types for each game, the replayability is immense. Each combination of cards creates a different game, requiring adapted strategies. The Second Edition introduced six new cards to replace some from the first edition, along with a rewritten rulebook and subtle adjustments to certain cards. Dominion is not a collectible card game (TCG), but offers a similar experience to building and playing a TCG deck. The direct competition with other players who have the same objectives adds a 'take that' element to the game, creating tensions and decisive moments.
