RECOMMENDED
Get ready to dive into a world of intrigue and distrust with The Resistance! This social deduction game places you at the heart of a rebellion against an oppressive empire. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to destroy enemy bases and liberate your people. But beware: Imperial spies have infiltrated your ranks, ready to sabotage any effort. You'll have to uncover these traitors before it's too late!
Designed for 5 to 10 players with quick 30-minute games, The Resistance is perfect for livening up any gathering without the dreaded player elimination – everyone stays in the action until the very end! While inspired by classics like Mafia/Werewolf, it shines with unique mechanics that amplify interaction and allow for more informed decisions.
At the start of the game, you'll be secretly assigned as either a Resistance Operative or an Imperial Spy. Over three to five rounds, the Resistance must work together to complete crucial missions, while the Spies try to subtly sabotage them. Each round kicks off with a healthy dose of discussion (and plenty of accusations!). The round's leader proposes a team for the mission, and everyone votes to approve or reject this formation. If the team is approved, the chosen players secretly decide whether to 'Support' or 'Sabotage' the mission. The outcome of these secret votes determines the mission's success or failure. The Resistance wins if they manage to complete three missions, but if three missions fail, the Empire (and the spies) emerge victorious. Prepare your best poker face and sharpen your persuasion skills, because the people's freedom depends on you!

How many players does The Resistance support?
The Resistance is ideal for larger groups, supporting 5 to 10 players. The more people, the more intrigue and fun!
What is the average game length?
Games are quite fast, usually lasting around 30 minutes. Perfect for multiple rounds or to fit into a longer game night.
Is The Resistance a complex game?
Not at all! It has a very light complexity (BGG weight of 1.59/5), easy to learn and teach, but with strategic depth in its social interactions.
Is there player elimination in The Resistance?
No! This is one of the game's major differentiating factors. All players remain in the game from start to finish, ensuring the fun doesn't stop for anyone.
What are the main components of the game?
The game is very compact, mainly consisting of cardboard cards representing characters (Resistance and Spies), mission cards (success/failure), and voting tokens. It's super portable!
Who is The Resistance recommended for?
It's highly recommended for anyone who loves party games, social deduction, bluffing, and lots of player interaction. If you like Mafia/Werewolf but want something more refined and without elimination, you'll love it!
What is the difference between The Resistance and The Resistance: Avalon?
The Resistance is the original, more straightforward version. Avalon adds characters with special abilities (like Merlin and Assassin), which increases complexity and layers of deduction. Both are excellent, but Avalon is a step up for those seeking more depth.
